Make it COZY!
Start with a clean room and color palette, then add in things to give your room a more cozy feeling. Nothing says “holiday” more than creating an initing space for friends and family.
I added this beautiful, neutral-colored, rug from Mohawk as the jumping-off point. The soft gray and beige tones seamlessly blend in with most decor and help define the room.
A rug pad will also add some extra cushioning and softness to hard surface flooring. If you already have wall-to-wall carpet, don’t be afraid to layer a rug on top! You can see how I’ve done it in this post.

Just Add Lights
Adding another Christmas tree doesn’t have to be an all day affair. I love having a tree with just lights…or as we call it in our house, a naked tree.
The lights add ambiance and extra light on the dark winter evenings.
Hang Some Garland and Ribbon
Drape some garland around the room and you instantly make it feel like Christmas. You can use fresh or faux, but for the easiest cleanup, I suggest a high quality faux!
Also attach some ribbon to bring in some color. I love using ribbon with wire to add some shape.
That’s all you need to instantly add some holiday fun to more areas of your home. The best part is that removing it Christmas is a breeze!
