Today Sara (from sincerely, sara d.) and I are really excited to share some tips with you about using wax on chalk paint. This is a question I get SO often and isn’t as straightforward as you might think! 🙂
Tips for Using Wax on Chalk Paint
- ALWAYS apply clear wax FIRST, especially if you are going to use dark wax!
- Wax is like lotion, less is more. You only need a small amount.
- It’s best to use a wax brush but you can also use cheese cloth or a lint free cloth (such as an old t-shirt).
- If you have too much dark wax or it got on an area you didn’t want, you can “ERASE” it using the clear wax. *This only works when you have applied the clear wax first.*
- Once you are finished applying the wax, use a lint free cloth to buff the entire piece.

Is there a better brush or way to apply the clear wax? The brush you used in the video didn’t seem to work very well as far as spreading the wax around. It just left streaks.
Can you just use a t-shirt to apply the clear was instead?
Thanks!
Yes, you could also use a t-shirt. You want very little wax on the brush or rag. It might feel like you aren’t even really applying anything. Also, be sure to buff it afterward to make sure you get any excess wax off. Hope that helps!
Just a tip, I use old tube or athletic socks. Especially good for buffing.
Can I use wax on a table that I didn’t paint with chalk paint to seal it ?
Yes, you can use on pretty much any finish. Just make sure it’s not going to be used in an area that will get wet, like outside.

What signs tell you it’s time to call a technician instead of trying to fix things yourself?
Hey folks! My Miele dishwasher started making a loud, alarming grinding noise and completely refused to drain, which was driving me insane in my California apartment. I spotted an online ad for a repair service and decided to try https://a-techrepair.com/miele-appliance-repair-service-near-me/. Booking online was quick and easy. The technician showed up fully prepared, replaced the clogged pump, cleaned buildup, and even shared a few simple tips to prevent future issues. The repair was fast, professional, and surprisingly friendly, and now my dishwasher runs perfectly again without a single issue.
