Last week my parents were visiting from Texas. We did some fun things, like take the kids to an amusement park , but we also got a lot done around my house. They always help me when they come to visit and I’m so appreciative.
Our biggest project was my laundry room. My dryer had gone out a few months ago and thus started the laundry room makeover! Here is what it looks like today {still nice and clean!).
On my parents last visit we cut the door in half to make it into a dutch door. You can find the tutorial here.
The purpose of the door was so we could make this room into a laundry/dog room. Molly, our golden retriever, was spread out all over the downstairs so I wanted a place specifically for her, her bed, and food. This room has no natural light and barely any overhead light, so I wanted to be able to close the door but still have some light coming in. {The lighting also makes it almost impossible to get a good picture too!}
We stacked the washer and dryer, added wainscoting, rearranged the overhead cabinets and made a small table. The table took the longest! I used an old barn door for the top, some barn wood for the front and a pair of old table legs. I started with the top and legs but wanted it be taller than a kitchen table, so we added the barn wood to raise it.
This room is SO small and just stacking the washer and dryer has made a huge difference. {Keeping dirty clothes off the floor also makes a huge difference! 😉 That’s what the huge laundry basket is for. Hopefully it will keep the clothes under control!}
Now when you walk in from the garage it feels a little more spacious and organized. I love how it turned out!
This week we are getting ready for school. I will officially have a 1st grader and she will be going all day for the first time. I’m getting a little sad just thinking about it!

I have same washer and dryer, set up side by side. Question … How do you reach buttons on top and also how do you see the screen? Just curious.

I have seen the stacking idea with the one on top tipped upside down – making controls easy to reach.
