The other day I was browsing West Elm’s website and I came across these gorgeous mirrors!
They are beautiful but I can’t necessarily justify spending that much money on ANOTHER mirror, at the moment. The concept is easy enough to recreate so I decided to make my own version for a fraction of the cost!
I found this pack of mirrors from Target and used Frog tape and gold spray paint to get the look I wanted.
These mirrors aren’t very big but I had planned to use them clustered with a few other mirrors I already had. I just taped off a design I wanted…
Then sprayed over the tape with a gold metallic spray paint. Make sure it is metallic, so you get a genuine “gold” finish.
It took a TOTAL (start to finish) 15 minutes for this project. The paint dries really fast!
As always the tape gave me crisp lines and they came out identical to the originals, just smaller.
I had considered using mirrored candle plates. You can get them at most craft stores and they are pretty inexpensive. If you decide to go with candle plates, you can hang them using the velcro Command picture hanging strips
The gold adds just a little interest to the mirror and still reflects the light. Not bad for a few minutes of my time and around $20!
